I love volunteering because of meeting new people and developing lasting
Relationships, learn new skills and increase my brain function and self-esteem, and
make a difference. Volunteering is a great act of kindness. It involves caring, loving, and
sharing of our time, our heart, and our soul. I believe that everyone should give back to
their community because volunteering not only makes us feel better as a person but it
also helps the people who really need it. My name is Ehnay Cho Bee, but when you
translate that in English it means Love Given First. I was born in a refugee camp, along
the border of Thailand and Burma (Myanmar). Due to the civil war between the Karen
and Burmese governments. I came to the US when I was 10 years old. I nearly lived in
a refugee camp for ten years. My parents had the opportunity to migrate to the US. To
start a new fresh page for both me and my siblings of 8. My parents came to the U.S.
because they wanted their children to have a better future by having better access to
education and other opportunities. When I become a nurse or a social worker I want to
go back to the refugee camp in Thailand to help provide healthcare and resources to
people who are in need of it. In 2018 I became a U.S citizen. I finished High School in
2018 and I am about to graduate from Ivy Tech with a degree in Human Services in
May 2021. I will continue pursuing my education at IUPUI spring of 2022.
