World Down Syndrome Day

World Down Syndrome Day (WDSD) , March 21, 2026, is a global awareness day that has been officially observed by the United Nations since 2012.

The date for WDSD, being the 21st day of the 3rd month, was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome, which causes Down syndrome.

There are many ways to celebrate World Down Syndrome Day with us! To spread awareness in your own community, we encourage you to share our Facebook and Instagram “Facts About Down syndrome” to help end the stereotypes and spread awareness! This is also a great time to help rally your community to raise funds towards the life-changing resources, programming, education, and impact Down Syndrome Indiana provides by starting a Facebook fundraiser, making a Buddy Walk Team, or directly donating at this link!
