Down Syndrome Indiana welcomes the newly emerging opportunities for post secondary education for individuals with Down syndrome. We look forward to the establishment of public policy that encourages and expands this new and exciting trend. All students desiring post secondary opportunities should have adequate opportunity to pursue career and vocational training that provides them with the additional knowledge and skills that leads to personal enrichment and enhanced employment opportunities.
Individuals with Down syndrome desiring post secondary educational opportunities should have available to them:
- Low interest educational loans.
- Educational grants and financial aid scholarships.
- Residential housing with access to all necessary services, supports and accommodations.
Funding from federal and state sources should be applied to the establishment of these post secondary opportunities that leads to an abundant and diverse choice of programs.
